Updated: Store display, product features, and Smart Links search
Posted by Melanie Kealey on Dec 19, 2024 in: Website Tips, Selling Music Online

Your artist website is the perfect place to direct fans to learn about your music and your career to date. Setting up everything in one spot can help you gain the interest of listeners, and turn them into lifelong fans.
To offer everything from merch to music — and even experiences — for your music fans means you need a website store that functions seamlessly. You'll want to add a store to your website that you own and control, allowing you to make sales quickly when you have new merch or music drops.
If you're levelling up your band website store, you can also offer discount codes, sale pricing, subscriber pricing and more.
However you use your Bandzoogle store to make sales, we know that a seamless purchase process is important to maintaining your music business and making money. So we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to add product updates that will make your stores look, and work, even better.
Below is an outline of what we’ve added — we hope these updates help you to make more sales over the next year (and beyond)!
New display option for your store
To help your 'Store' feature stand out, we’ve added a bold new way to showcase products with an image and text style of presentation.
Simpler products will have a convenient 'Add to cart' button on the page, while more complex products will have a 'View details' link that will take fans to the permalink page to continue with the purchase. You can also disable permalinking to make a pop-up open instead.
Along with these upgraded product options, you can now toggle the description of your product on or off. This can be helpful if your product title is concise and descriptive enough, giving your store a more visual and less text-heavy look.

Searchable album dropdown
Now when you go to add an album, CD, vinyl, or cassette to your store, you’ll be able to search through your current albums. Along with an added search input, the dropdown also displays the artwork, title, and year associated with the album, making it more visually pleasing and easier to sort out which album you’re looking for.
Similarly, when adding a product from your 'Selling Tools' > Products area, you will also see the album art and year.
Smart Links and My Sites search
Similar to the new album search option, you can now search the 'Smart Links' feature and the 'My Sites' feature to find what you’d like to add more quickly. These features are tuned up with a new look to help you add your content, from albums to icons.
Store item duplication
Another update in the' Store' feature: it is now possible to quickly duplicate a store item, including its images, variations, related upsell products, store placements, and other details. Once duplicated, you can edit the details as needed before making the item available in your store.
Within the store, you can duplicate any of these product types: Product/Service, CD/Vinyl/Cassette, File Download, Bundle, and Gift Card. This is especially handy if you are prepping for the holidays by using gift cards to promote your music.
Product archiving
Bandzoogle has been around for more than twenty years now, and many of you musicians have been members with us for quite some time as well! In case you’ve built up a large collection of products, we rolled out an e-commerce update which will allow you to archive old products (this includes music products).
This means that instead of being deleted and rebuilt entirely, your product can easily be unarchived and used again in the future. Perhaps for an anniversary re-issue?
Concise product URLs
As our 'Store' feature continues to evolve, we added automatic URL slugs that include the product name. This is good for your website SEO and will be helpful if someone is searching for a specific album, song, or product of yours online.
Improved file search
Finally, we recently rolled out a much-requested update that allows you to better search the File section. This includes files, photo galleries, music, and page PDFs you’ve created. The results will show immediately and your search term will be highlighted for ease of use. This is another convenient update for long-term members who have a lot of uploads in their Files section.
We hope that these feature updates make your experience setting up your website and selling merch or music even more enjoyable!
