There are many different types of people that will visit your website. From your current fans, to potential new fans, as well as media, bookers, and other members of the industry. But, they’re all likely looking for different content.
Your fans might go to your website to read your latest news, or to buy your new music. Media and industry are looking for your official bio, promo photos, and to read reviews.
To make it easy for media and industry to find the information they need, the best thing to do is create an Electronic Press Kit (EPK) section on your website.
What should you include in your EPK? Here are 8 things that should be in every musician’s electronic press kit:
The first element to include in your EPK is your bio. Bookers and festivals have different needs and word limits for bios, so it’s a good idea to include different versions. You can have an elevator pitch (1-2 sentences), a short bio (1 paragraph), a medium bio (2+ paragraphs) and a long bio (4+ paragraphs).
Next, you should have a section in your EPK with downloadable photos. These should be your official promotional photos. Make them hi-resolution, and offer a variety of options, from live shots to posed band pictures.
It’s a good idea to have vertical and horizontal options, and even black & white versions available. You can also include your most recent album or single cover image, which can be helpful for reviewers.
You’ll of course need to have your latest music available to stream on your EPK. You can also include links to Spotify or Apple Music so they can listen on their preferred streaming platform.
Some bands choose to password protect their EPK pages to offer free downloads of their music. Making your EPK easily accessible is important. So if a reviewer wants to download your full album or EP, state clearly who they can contact to get a copy.
Media sites often embed videos of artists they’re covering to help make the article more engaging. Venues and festivals also like to use video on their websites to promote artists they’ve booked. So be sure to embed a few of your best videos in your digital press kit to make it easy to find high-quality videos.

5. Articles / reviews
It wouldn’t be a press kit without some press! Post links to your best reviews and interviews. But don’t assume that people will click on each article and read them in full. Be sure to pull the best quote from each review and include it underneath the link. You can add a nice visual touch by including logos of the media sources next to each article or review.
6. Career highlights
Anything that can help to give positive context to you and your music should be in your digital press kit. If you won any awards, charted on radio, had success on streaming platforms, or performed at noteworthy festivals, include that in your EPK.
7. Contact info
Include detailed contact information on your EPK page to have everything in one place for media and bookers.
Have contact info for each member of your team, whether it’s your booking agent, manager, or publicist. Of course, many musicians handle these roles themselves. So in that case you can include your main contact info for press and booking inquiries.
8. Social media
And finally, include your social links in your EPK. This way visitors have all the links right there to check out your social media presence. You don’t have to overdo it. Only list the social media platforms that you are most active on.
